The 2016 Alumni Achievement Awards will be presented during Spring Commencement (Saturday, May 21, Colton Hall, Monterey), and they will be among our special guests attending a pre-Commencement dinner the evening prior to Commencement. Graduating students, family members and special guests shall celebrate with our award recipients, acknowledging their success. And who knows which student, sitting in the audience, might just be a future awardee?
The Alumni Achievement Awards launched in 2012 as a way to recognize the outstanding work being accomplished by MIIS alumni. The awards acknowledge professional success, service, and other values important to the Institute. Anyone can nominate alumni for their achievements and commitment to MIIS, and we encourage faculty, staff, students, or professional colleagues to consider submitting a candidate for one of the three awards (the awards cycle for 2017 will open up in November, 2016). You are also welcome to self-nominate.
The award categories and criteria are as follows:
Distinguished Alumni Award:
•Recipient has achieved prominence in his or her field, and epitomizes the Institute's educational philosophy through their contributions to his/her community and/or field
•Demonstrated record of service and philanthropy to MIIS
•Ideally, the nominee is a role model to students and his/her journey provides motivation and inspiration to the Institute and its constituents
Young Alumni Achievement Award (one each for GSIPM and GSTILE alumni):
•Recipient graduated within the last 10 years
•Currently making great strides as a young professional in their field and/or community and engages with the MIIS community
Alumni Volunteer Service Award:
•Recipient has given generously of his/her time to support MIIS
•Engaged in activities related to chapter development/events, fundraising, student mentoring, career support, and/or recruitment
